Beachbody Has Kept Us Afloat

In the last 6 months we have had some costly emergencies that would have put us in a panic as we tried to afford everything. We had to replace our entire heating and a/c in our home due to a severe gas, which was considered a condemned system by the gas company, I had almost $1000 in car repairs, Leslie had repairs to her car, not to mention dental & medical fees and prescriptions. I can honestly say "Thank God" for Beachbody, which provides me with enough supplemental income to cushion the blow. If not for this business opportunity, I don't know how my family would have made it through the last year.

As a teacher, it's very difficult to keep your head above water when you only get paid once a month, and by the end of the month you are looking everywhere you can for a couple bucks to make it through. Not to mention the fact that I took a significant pay cut, and I only get paid for 10 months a year. After being a loyal Beachbody customer, I knew the products were quality. And I knew that for the first few months of coaching, I would take a financial hit. But I figured it was an investment worth making. When I think about how much money I am wasting by investing in my 403B, which costs me more than what I spend on Beachbody per month, it was a "no-brainer". And this opportunity has the potential to surpass my primary income if I stay committed to it.

Well, after about three months of coaching and reaching Emerald status, I started to see my earnings grow. I continue to see it grow, and I'm doing it by helping others as well. It really is a win-win for everyone. I am embarrassed to say it, but I was pretty used to looking at my bank account and seeing a bunch of zeros in the balance column of all my accounts. Now, when I expect to see a bunch of zeros, I am pleasantly surprised to see just how much we actually have. Are we rich? No...far from it. But we're not panicking anymore, and that is worth more than I can ever describe. My stress is nowhere near where it was a year ago, and it's only going to get better. I just have to stay focused, stay committed, and continue to help others do the same.

The Importance of a Food Journal

food diary

Studies have demonstrated the importance of food diaries and the difference they can make to a diet or a weight loss program and this is due to several reasons:

You have probably heard or read about the importance of keeping a food journal or a diet diary where you faithfully jot down all that you eat and how keeping such a record of your caloric intake will help you lose weight.
  • You are less likely to cheat on a diet when you know you have to record faithfully, all that you eat; including snacks, an unplanned dessert, finishing baby food or what get left behind on junior’s plate; everything!
  • A diary gives you a very realistic idea of your daily calorie consumption. You may actually be eating more than you think, and may despair of not losing weight. With a food diary, you will realize how much you have been actually eating; which will explain your lack of progress and motivate you to keep to the program better.
  • A food diary helps one take responsibility and also helps to get a feeling of control over a weight loss program. You are able to identify eating patterns more accurately which will be able to offer revealing insight into the reasons for failure and success. It is also able to tell you accurately what works for you and what doesn’t
  • You can face your food choices better and with more clarity when you record what and how much you have eaten and then you are less able to blame others, or your genes, or circumstances for lack of progress. A food diary, in a sense, holds up a mirror to ourselves so that we are less able to evade the truth of our own actions
It is often just ignorance or forgetfulness (which may at times be willful or deliberate) that causes us to eat more than we need to or are meant to. A faithful recording of all that we eat (obviously you have to be fully honest with yourself here and record everything) does in fact present a true picture. This is not possible if you try to make a rough calculation of what you eat in a day, based on what you remember (or don’t remember) having eaten in a given day – it is far more accurate when you have

Food for Thought - My August Challenge to my Group

My TnT Fitness community has shared some great goals so far, but everyone participating in the August challenge needs to make sure you are specific if you are going to be accountable for your eating. I get a ton of people saying they can't lose weight, but when I ask them to tell me how many calories they burn in a day, what they are eating and the portion size, they either have no clue or they don't respond at all, probably because they are in denial. Putting things out here will hold you accountable, and you will see success...if you are honest about it. It's a simple matter of mathematics folks: for every pound you want to lose, you need to burn 3500 MORE calories that you consume. Knowing what you take in and what you are burning in a day is vital to understanding how much weight you can expect to lose. There are two reasons for this. The first is that you can set realistic goals for yourself. Whether your goal is to lose 5 lbs or 20lbs in a month, if you are burning 2500 calories a day but are eating 2200, you will only be able to lose just under 3lbs in a month. If that is your goal, then great. But if your goal is more toward the 20 lb range, you are going to be greatly disappointed and could be negatively affected so that you want to throw in the towel. The second reason is that people often don't realize just how much they are eating, or the quality of the food they are consuming. By recording it, you may start reading the food labels that you have neglected for years, thus beginning your education on healthy eating.

Look, I eat plenty of food every day. I would wager that I eat more than 90% of what everyone in this group eats. The difference is that I eat a large quantity of food in intervals about every 3 hours. That's 5-6 meals a day (anywhere from 300-600) calories per meal, and I don't deprive myself of food that I love to eat. What I try to do, however, is make sure the ingredients are healthy choices. If I'm having a burger, maybe I choose to have a turkey burger instead of beef, or have an extra lean beef patty (that I make myself) with a wheat bun and heavy on the veggies to make it filling (light mayo). Hopefully you will pay attention to what I document as my daily diet will help you understand what I am talking about over the next 31 days. I can't wait to see what everyone else contributes to the challenge, and hear about the success they have after finally holding themselves accountable for their actions.
