Precious Moments

Tonight I went to a fit club that is hosted by my friend Traci Morrow. She is gracious enough to rent out the auxiliary basketball court at Azusa Pacific University every Thursday night, just so others can come and workout together. Although the workouts are great, that is not what I am calling a precious moment. You see, tonight my 5 year old son, Trevor, joined me. My wife stayed home with a migraine and our older son, Tyler, wanted to stay with her to take care of her. So it was just me and Trevor for the evening. During the workout he ran around with a couple of other boys, causing a bit of trouble but nothing to worry about. That was fun to watch, but that wasn't precious either. My precious moment cam after the workout was completed and everyone headed home. As the last few people found their way to the exit, I told Traci I would like to stay for a few minutes just to have some "daddy time" with Trevor. She said sure and went home to her own family. This was my precious moment. Just 15 minutes of uninterrupted playtime with my little boy, it was past his bedtime after all. But for those 15 minutes, you couldn't wipe the smile of his face, or take the joy out of my heart. As we walked out of the gym Trevor grabbed my hand and held it all the way to the car. On the way he said a simple phrase, "I love you Daddy, I had fun with you." To me, that little phrase was more powerful, more meaningful than any speech in the history of mankind. What would I do to be able to create more moments like that? I'm doing it...You can to.
